The Whistler, Happy Anniversary! Premiered on March 30, 1944

“I am the Whistler, and I know many things, for I walk by night;” a wonderful beginning to an eerie Film-Noir experience, starring Richard Dix and the taunting tones of Otto Forrest as The Whistler. The Whistler was directed by William Castle who worked with Orson Welles in radio and as the second unit director (uncredited) on The Lady from Shanghai. The Whistler was a darling of a concept for radio, television and film; this is truly one of my favorites.
