Casablanca won Oscar honors for Best Picture, Best Director (Michael Curtiz) and Best Screenplay (Julius J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein and Howard Koch), presented on Thursday, March 2, 1944, at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, in Hollywood. Casablanca also received nominations for Best Actor (Humphrey Bogart), Best Supporting Actor (Claude Rains), Best Cinematography, Black and White (Arthur Edeson), Best Film Editing (Owen Marks) and Best Music for Drama or Comedy (Max Steiner).
